Downtown Core Project

The City of Fontana amended its Form Based Code in 2023 with a focus on multi-family housing and mixed-use development as part of the State’s SB2 Grant. This effort led to zoning changes to encourage higher residential density mixed-use with entertainment and night oriented businesses such as restaurants and breweries. In conjunction with the revitalization of Stage Red, and Miller Amphitheater, Downtown Fontana along with an anticipated Sierra pedestrian plaza in the future will become a local and regional destination.

Downtown Development:
The City of Fontana adopted a program level Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and Development Guidebook to encourage housing, commercial development, and mixed-use in the Downtown. In addition, the General Plan’s Community Mobility and Circulation Element was amended to establish a pedestrian plaza in the heart of the Downtown to attract businesses and residents.
